My mother taught me so many useful things, and I cannot even begin to list them all down, but the one thing that I am most grateful for is the fact that she instilled in me a passion for reading. The very first novel I ever read was Heidi, which was a gift from my mom when I was 9, and from then on I was hooked. Reading has helped me get through adolescence, and all of life’s trials; it’s my favourite means of escape and my favourite form of entertainment.
(I found this cute edition of Heidi at a local bookstore. It’s published by Puffin books, and is part of the Puffin Bloom collection. The other books in the collection are also equally pretty.)
My bookshelves are full to bursting, and my books have spilled over all over the house. I wish Interior Design bloggers would post more tips about styling a bookshelf that’s actually full of books, as it’s my one frustration. There’s not a lot of styling options available when books are already double parked.
The fantastic thing though, is that publishers have been producing sets of books with the most gorgeous covers. This makes it so easy to prettify your bookshelves. The image at the very top of the post is a set of glamourous F. Scott Fitzgerald books I ordered online. They’re so gorgeous that I used them to decorate the tv console.
I’ve been browsing online for more of these sets and I’m itching to collect all these lovely ones I’m sharing here. Most of these images are from Juniper Books, which sells decorative book sets. They have everything I want in my dream library. Every time I browse the site, I just want to go, “here, take my money!”
Jessica Hische is one of my design idols. I’ve been following her since she started her Drop Caps series. Naturally, I got super excited when I found out that Penguin has released a series of books designed by her. Love the colors!
Penguin Classics is a set of cloth-bound books designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith. They’re so pretty!!! I have to save up to buy all these.
This set of classic cookbooks is also on my wishlist! I just love the design of the spines, and I know these will look great in my kitchen.
This lovely set was designed by Mr. Boddington’s Studio and it just oozes prettiness! I love the light colors and the whimsical design.
And then there is this.
A beautiful edition of Jane Austen’s complete works in pink. Yes, pink.
This was designed by the Juniper Books, and the gorgous jackets are actually made of water-resistant paper made to look like leather. And in pink. Pink!
Do you know of any other book collection that’s also pretty? Do share in the comments!
You know, I’ve never read Hedi! Never thought about it until now. It’s a classic. Love all of these pretty books!
Oh, Heidi is a beautiful story! I bought this new edition as a mother’s day gift to myself.
Those pretty covers would really entice me to read… And also to NOT read because I might ruin them. haha!
You know what, I have 2 copies of all my favorite books. One paperback for reading, one hardbound for display. hihihihihi. 🙂 It’s my one vice.
I confess I judge a book by its cover. And these ones are breathtakingly beautiful! I especially like the CB Smith cloth bound editions and Austen in pink!!!! 🙂 I feel like I have to clean and disinfect my hands before touching them. 😛
Aggie, we are the same. hahaha. Even if I know the author is good, I choose the edition with the nicer cover design. 🙂
