as our move approaches, i’ve been spending a lot of time searching the web for inspiration on how to decorate the flat. we hired an interior design firm to redo the kitchen so that we won’t have to think of all the details anymore — we looked at a dozen or so magazines and still couldn’t find the perfect look. but we knew what we wanted and found a design firm who understood our needs.
it should be no surprise that we’re spending for the kitchen renovation. it is the most important room in the house for us! =) actually the flat we’re buying is already nicely done, so not much work is needed for the rest of the rooms. the living area is bright, with recessed lights and a nice feature wall. we’re putting up a wall mirror in the dining area just to make it look bigger than it is. i’m so excited to see it!
for our bedroom though, i’m going against the overall look of the rest of the flat. i don’t want a bright and airy bedroom. i want a cocoon! =) so i’m thinking of gray/beige and sterling walls, and thick curtains to block off the light (and give more privacy). then the headboard and bedframe will be in cream, and so will the rest of the furniture.
i bought myself a folly of a throne last weekend. it is HUGE, but oh so gorgeous! yes, it looks a lot like the vintage chair pictured above, silver-leaf and all. but i’m having it reupholstered in a purple/silver damask — just because i want to! so instead of the bed, the chair will be the focal point in the bedroom. and i don’t care what anyone says, i love my chair! it’s very fancy girl. =D
tune in for more of my ramblings. this blog will be full of interior design projects and ideas for the next month or so.
