Glorious food pictures! That’s what I had to look at constantly while I was designing this site. Torture to the nth levels!
I collaborated with blog coach Martine de Luna when building this site. Our client was Sari Jorge, who owns 25 Mushrooms Kitchen cooking school and event space. 25 Mushrooms Kitchen is known in Manila as THE place to train household staff and newly-wed homemakers to entertain and feed guests & family. She wanted a very clean, organized look that showcased the beautiful food photography of Sari’s husband.
They already had a gorgeous logo, designed by an ad agency, and a color palette to go with it.
Image sources: One, Two, Three (client’s own), Four, Five (client’s own).
What I did was translate this same aesthetic into a fully functioning website with integrated blog. The homepage layout is organized in a grid, showcasing their photos and featured pages, as well as the latest posts.
I also styled the major pages and used as much of their photos as possible. The site is built on the Genesis Framework, like all my WordPress themes, and is of course, mobile responsive.
The about page is laid out like a magazine page.
The Cooking School & its courses.
The contact page.
I used a smart gallery plugin for the Events & Packages page, that shows a thumbnail with the title of the package, and when clicked, will show the full details as below:
The blog page has a different logo, and keeps the clean aesthetic. It has a wide area for blog posts so that their fantastic photos will be displayed prominently. The sidebar widgets are clean, organized, and use light neutral colors.
Do check out the site! I can’t be the only one to drool over the food pictures, you know!
