Featured Project: Balloon & Event Construction Company

July 4, 2019 by Patricia

The Balloon & Event Construction Company is an award winning balloon decor company based in North East Florida. They use balloons, fabric and lights to bring their clients’ vision to life.

They wanted a modern take on their old logo, which is already very well-known in their area. We sought to create a more fun, updated feel with fresh colors, new typefaces; to make it more fun & festive while keeping it professional. Her ideal client is primarily corporate, & they wanted to appear fun, just not so left field.

As usual, Ginny Krauss did a fabulous job with their brand strategy, and took out the guesswork from mine!

MOODBOARD & COLOR PALETTE

The color palette is basically composed of rainbow colors, but the main color is navy, followed by honeysuckle pink and bright green. Isn’t it a fun moodboard?

LOGO DESIGN

We did several iterations of the logo design, refining the details to get just the right look. This is the final primary logo design:

I also created fun patterns in their brand colors, and coordinating submarks in 3 color variations.

STATIONERY SUITE

Naturally the brand collaterals would be as fun as the logo! The client had the most amazing brand images done, so I used them liberally throughout.

WEBSITE DESIGN

Most all balloon company sites are very generic looking, and Blenda wanted to truly stand out with a fresh, fun and modern feel. They wanted the site to truly reflect a celebration! Her oh so fun brand imagery were absolutely perfect, and we used them all over.

I also made sure that the website would be easy to figure out, easy to navigate. And also, fully mobile-responsive.

The custom monogram forms the letters H and A, but if you look at it long enough, you'll notice the curves of the letter A forms a letter L - which stands for Lisa, the founder's name.
We wanted the brand to look and feel premium but welcoming, as befits her years of experience and level of expertise.

The Ashcombe Hall has the gravity of a country house library, the kind of face you'd expect stamped in gold on a leather spine. Vintage Serenade moves looser, more lyrical, closer to something a calligrapher would have signed.
Design has swung this way before. When the Industrial Revolution made everything fast and identical, William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement answered with ornament, with craft, with the visible mark of the maker. The clean grid had its long turn at the wheel. This particular kind of type, textured, hand-cut, carrying a sense of history in the strokes, is having its own.
The antiques returning to people's living rooms and this type returning to branding are doing the same work. Both are reminding us a skilled hand was involved.
