Ceemee, of cymplified.com, is a very creative lady who writes poetry and draws the most charming illustrations. For her blog makeover, she wanted to get the look of a fairytale or poetry book, with lots of hand-drawn elements, and a textured paper background. But she didn’t want anything cluttered, so I made sure that there would still be a lot of white space, and that the overall look will still be clean and fresh.
She sent me a lovely concept for her logo, a heart-shaped vine with morning glory flowers in lilac and pink, which I translated into a watercolor illustration.
I love her colour palette! It’s such a happy combination! It perfectly communicates the artsy and whimsical overall mood of her site.

I built her theme on the Sixteen Nine Pro theme from Studiopress, which is a great mobile-responsive child theme with an unusual layout. Check out her site to see all the details that we put in, from the watercolor-textured buttons to the social media icons and signature.
I’d love to know what you think! Would you try this non-traditional layout for your blog? How do you feel about watercolor design elements?
Oh wow, it’s really nice! I especially love the colors!
Thank you! 🙂
I super love Ceemee’s blog look! It suits her content very well. Slightly reserved but openly warm, charming and homey. Love the textured background and the watercolor elements. Great work, Pat!
