This year has been absolutely amazing so far and not just in terms of the volume of projects I’m working on. Every month it seems, I get to work on at least one project that I’ve been wishing and praying and hoping for – a lovely client with extremely great style who knows what she wants and is able to communicate it, and who asks for a design that I’ve been dreaming of creating. It’s mad! And I’m so over the moon and grateful!
Kayli Wanders is a lifestyle blog marketing to stylish women looking to wander wherever their curiosity takes them. Kayli Schattner, the fabulous girl behind the blog, knows who her ideal reader is: obsessed with vanilla lattes and likes to treat herself to a nice dessert every once in a while and has a world of potential in her and knows it. In other words, someone I’d love to hang out with!
Her re-branding was spurred on by her desire to give her site a more grown-up vibe, but still keeping the fun and feminine factor. I LOVE the color scheme that she chose!
After some drafts, she decided to let go of the darker pink and we made the blush and black more prominent. Kayli wanted a brush script font for her logo, and she finally settled on this one, using Amelian Script. I added some pale blush confetti behind it to give it a fun element.
Putting it all together, here is how her homepage looks like. It shows her blog feed, with the posts in full. The navigation bar uses a mega menu to sort out her many categories. This is a custom layout that I designed just for her.
Like all my WordPress themes, this one is built on the Genesis Framework, is totally mobile responsive, and is packed full of custom features.
Her blog and category pages show featured posts in snippets, with a thumbnail on one side so visitors get an easy overview of posts.
Her Work with Me page also has a custom layout and features a stylish stock image that Kayli chose herself, and a secondary navbar that only shows up on that page and in its subpages.
Other custom features include a signature at the end of her posts, chic social media icons on her sidebar, styled widget titles, and a coordinating sign up form right above her header.
I really loved working on this blog design project and hope to have more clients like Kayli! If you’re in need of a stylish new look for your blog, fill out my inquiry form and let’s talk about how I can help you!
