Angeline and her husband David had been blogging over at Blogspot for quite a number of years. I designed their previous theme when the site was still called Princess Dana’s Diaries, but this year they decided to finally migrate to WordPress and take on a new name as well. Their blog is a story of faith and hope, and they wanted a look that would reflect that. Angeline specified that she wanted to use my Madeleine theme, which she had seen some of my previous clients using. She asked for a theme design that was refreshing, relaxing, and spiritual, and chose a lovely colour palette of sea breeze and spring green, accented by slate grey.
Here is the mood board that I worked with.
She chose the dandelion as her symbol (perfect, right?!), and asked for a watercolor illustration that would be used throughout the site; on the header, as a slider image, on their about page, and on their Facebook timeline cover.
The overall feel of the site is still very understated and clean, with lots of white space and breathability. Categories and menu tabs are organized for easy navigation and exploration. The site is mobile-responsive, of course, and is built on the Genesis Framework using html5 markup.
The homepage is fully widgetized and features a full-width slider, and featured categories in a grid.
The blog page is clean and has lots of white space.
Do check out the site! Get inspired by their journey, and leave some love.
