I’m so excited to feature this project! Marilen Montenegro is an interior stylist, model, and mom, who is not only gorgeous, but also really lovely to work with.
She approached me late last year to redesign her blog and logo and give it a more sophisticated look. Her keywords for the redesign were SOPHISTICATED SIMPLICITY. This project is another fun collaboration with Martine de Luna, blog coach extraordinaire, who gave the most helpful editorial direction to Marilen.
This is the colour inspiration board that I gathered based on our initial discussions. (Check out the geometric trays! I got that from her Pinterest board.)
We went over several versions of her logo. She was in love with the idea of a pineapple icon, which we tried at first, but decided that it was too reminiscent of Emily Ley. We tried other icons, but we agreed that the logo itself is already enough for a visual identity, and she didn’t need anything else on it. We also decided to do away with the mint and replace it with grey, and then later with a metallic silver because Marilen wanted a more glamorous touch (but not too much, of course.)
This is the brand board that I came up with for Marilen.
We applied these guidelines in the design of her blog, which is very minimalist, with lots of white space. It is, of course, mobile-responsive and built on the Genesis Framework.
On her Work with Me page are images that highlight her various services.
Do check out her site. Her blog has tons of fantastic inspiration. Oh, and did you know that she also featured my home? She did! And I was so over the moon about it! You can read the feature here.
Marilen has one of the most beautiful blogs, layout-wise and content-wise! Thank you, Pat, for making it come to life. I love working on blog coaching collabs with you. Here’s to more this year!
It’s always great working with you, Martine! Yes, here’s to more collabs this year!
