This was a major makeover! I did the first two designs for the thespoiledmummy.com, and this is the most extreme makeover we’ve done so far. This was the old design:
It was sweet and richly-textured, with lots of vintage-y accents. It was inspired in part by Laduree, and in part by Kate Spade.
Grace decided that her blog was in need of a major makeover, (it was about time!) so we started working on her redesign some months ago. She wanted a much more modern, streamlined, sophisticated look, with a custom homepage, a slider, featured categories on the homepage, and a more organized menubar. I worked with Martine de Luna for her new brand identity; she also helped Grace out with the editorial direction of her blog. After several consultations, including an actual face to face meeting at TWG one afternoon, Grace and I finalized the look for the new brand identity and blog.
This is how it looks now. It’s totally mobile responsive, has lots of white space, and is certainly more sophisticated than the previous design. We initially considered keeping the tiffany blue in the palette, but Grace wanted a much more mature look, none of the sweet and cute from the previous design, so we replaced it with black and dark grey.
This is how the blog page looks — so much cleaner, right? I love all the white space!
It was great collaborating with some really awesome ladies for this project. Martine did a wonderful job with editorial and branding direction. Work with her if you need blog coaching, she’s fantastic. Jennyfer Tan is the most amazing girl friday you will ever have. She helped Grace with all the technical details of her blog, from fixing her categories, setting up the menu, installing plugins, troubleshooting, and all the techie stuff that Grace didn’t have the confidence to do herself. These ladies made my job a lot easier. And they’re also very nice to work with!
Do visit thespoiledmummy.com and congratulate her on the makeover!
A big and heartfelt thank you Pat for making my dream website come true! 🙂 Love how everything turned out!
You’re welcome, Grace! I’m so glad you like your site’s new look!
