The internet has been abuzz with the release of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. You can’t even open a news site without reading about it. Now, I have to admit that I’m a die-hard apple fan girl. I’ve been one since I first got the classic white macbook years ago. It was love at first boot up. Nowadays, I work on a 27-inch iMac at home, backup using my Airport Time Capsule, use a Macbook pro when I travel, read magazines on my iPad (I also have the bigger one but I prefer the size of the mini), and am surgically connected to my gold iPhone 5s (no, not literally, but that’s a tempting thought). So yes, I love Apple products. I love the ecosystem. I love how everything works together. And most of all, I love the design and how sleek everything looks.
Last week’s Apple Live Event was the first one I stayed up for. It started at 1am Singapore time, but I was caught up in the general excitement. I couldn’t wait to see the new iPhones! (My mobile contract allows me to upgrade my handset every year, and I’m due for one next month. ) When I saw the iPhone 6, though, I didn’t feel the same rush of infatuation that I did when I saw the gold iPhone 5s for the first time. I mean just look at it! It’s gorgeous! It’s absolute perfection!
I almost didn’t want to cover mine because I didn’t want to hide the beautiful casing. I love everything about it, and I fell head over high heels for it the moment I saw the announcement last year.
The gold iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are lovely, but not as lovely as the 5s, unfortunately.
It has rounded edges, which I’m sure feels more comfortable, but I will miss the shiny gold edge surrounding the phone. And frankly, those white borders at the top and bottom don’t really look nice. I still prefer the design of the 5s with the gold only in the middle area. Or maybe if the whole thing was gold, then it would look better. What do you think?
I’m actually more in love with the black (ok fine, space grey) one, it looks more elegant, almost seamless. I told my husband to make sure he gets the space grey model when it’s his turn to upgrade. I might just swap with him. haha.
I am still undecided about the larger size. I would surely appreciate the bigger screen when I’m checking emails, and I’m excited about the camera! I think if there’s anything that would nudge me into upgrading soon, it would be the camera. I take lots of pictures with my phone, and I have a very active Instagram life. (haha!) I will most likely be buying a case as soon as I get the iPhone 6. (No, I’m not getting the 6 Plus, I don’t need an iPad mini mini.) Which gets me thinking that perhaps I should start designing a custom case for me. hmmm.
How about you? Will you be upgrading to the iPhone6 too? Or do you prefer the iPhone 6 Plus?
The iPhone 5S in gold sure is prettier than the gold iPhone 6. So the new one is super duper rounded it almost looks slippery. 🙂
I agree!
