How to Choose the Perfect Summer-Inspired Color Palette for Your Brand

June 28, 2025 by Patricia

Struggling with choosing color palettes for your brand? If your brand is launching or relaunching this season—or you’re simply drawn to that light, fresh, and breezy aesthetic—summer-inspired color palettes might be the perfect direction.

how to choose the perfect summer color palette

As a design studio that works with creative female founders, we often use seasonal brand theory to help guide color decisions. And summer palettes? They’re some of our favorites. Think soft pastels, breezy coastal tones, garden blooms, and the occasional pop of juicy citrus. They’re elegant, cool-toned, and full of possibility.

So how do you choose the right one for your brand? Let’s explore.

First, What Is Seasonal Brand Theory?

Seasonal Brand Theory borrows from color analysis used in fashion and applies it to brand aesthetics. Brands that align with a “season” in terms of tone, temperature, and mood often feel more visually cohesive and emotionally resonant.

Summer brands typically feel:

  • Cool or neutral-cool in tone
  • Soft, refined, and slightly muted
  • Light, airy, or dreamy—not heavy or earthy

These palettes work beautifully for lifestyle, wellness, creative, and service-based brands that want to feel approachable yet polished.

6 Summer-Inspired Color Palettes for Your Brand

Here are six distinctive palettes we created to show the range of summer-inspired options—from playful to editorial to countryside chic. Each one is curated with intention, using aesthetic principles from seasonal theory.

Tips for Choosing the Right Color Palette for Your Brand

Still feeling stuck? Keep these tips in mind:

  1. Start with your vibe – Is your brand soft and calm? Or bold and vibrant? Match your color’s tone to your brand personality.
  2. Avoid trends if you’re aiming for longevity – Your palette should feel fresh but timeless.
  3. Think about how the colors will be used – What will be your hero color vs. your neutrals or accents?
  4. Make sure they work across platforms – Your palette should look great on your website, social media, packaging, and more.

Whether you’re building a brand from scratch or giving your visuals a much-needed summer refresh, these summer-inspired color palettes are here to spark ideas. Choosing color palettes for your brand isn’t just about what looks good—it’s about how your audience feels when they interact with you.

Summer palettes are versatile, modern, and full of emotional clarity. If you’d like help choosing your brand colors or creating a custom identity grounded in seasonal brand theory, I’d love to chat.
