This year, I vowed to find balance in my life. Β I have been making sure that I set aside time to do what I love. I work on several projects at the same time, all the time, and I often feel like a browser with 97 tabs open. I’m not complaining though, I LOVE what I do, and I’m blessed to have a job that brings me so much joy. But it does get stressful, and workaholic that I am, it taxes me physically and mentally too.
Lately I’ve turned to watercolours and calligraphy to de-stress. Β There is a joy that comes from creating art that cannot be matched by any other activity.
Flowers are instant pick-me-ups. Β I painted this right after I finished another project. π
this is my bliss. π
I’ve also started to accept commissions on my illustrations. The image above is for a blog header.
I loved the concept and the colour palette! Can’t wait to see this one go live.
I think this one will look really nice with a calligraphed quote in the center, don’t you think? π
This cute set is for a blog header again. Β It’s a more whimsical style.
What do you do to de-stress?
I taught a private watercolour workshop last weekend, and it was so much fun! I’m planning something more amazing with a friend who teaches calligraphy. It’s going to be awesome. Β Watch out for the announcement soon. π
Patricia your watercolors are mesmerizing. The florals with their nuances are particularly beautiful. I paint with acrylic which is a lot more forgiving! Have you done work with moodier colors? I’d love to see those!!
Hi Ina! I paint with acrylics too. Yes, they’re definitely more forgiving than watercolors! Lately I’ve been brushing up on my watercolour skills because it gives me instant gratification. I’m not so keen on using moodier colours anymore though. I had a phase where I did dull reds with blacks and dark browns, but I grew out of it several years ago. I saw the work you did, you are insanely talented!
You’re such a gifted creative, Pat! Lovely, lovely work.
Thank you! You are too kind! π
