Hello lovelies! April 21 is just around the corner, and you know what that means! Google’s new algorithm is going to take effect, which rewards mobile-friendly sites in search results. In the Google Webmaster blog, it says it will significantly affect all searches worldwide. Meaning it’s a very important that your site is mobile-friendly now more than ever.
I’m happy to point out that all my recent web and blog design projects for the past year or so have been all mobile-responsive. I’ve had clients who wavered on this, but I always pointed out the benefits of having a mobile responsive site versus a fixed width site, even if it means making compromises on the design. More and more people are viewing websites using mobile devices, and the number is growing, not shrinking.

What does it really mean to be mobile-friendly?
- Your website software needs to be compatible with mobile, so definitely no Flash
- Readable text, not so small that you need to zoom in.
- Content automatically resizes to fit the screen (so you don’t have to scroll horizontally or zoom in and out all the time)
- Links that are easy to tap (large, with huge margins all around)
So, are you ready for April 21?
