MEET PATRICIA ALIX

Founder, Designer, & Creative Director

I’ve always been drawn to beautiful things, and love sketching or painting — but if you ask me what I do to unwind, it’s definitely redecorating. Other people stress-clean; I stress redecorate. I've done it so many times that I’ve probably traumatized my poor kids because they come home from school and walk into a living room that looks completely different!

Living in a beautiful space is something I love. I have a gallery wall that’s always changing, and I’m always pouring over interior design magazines, which is why I love working with interior designers on their websites.

I’m also an introvert, which means I thrive in noticing details others might miss, and I love working behind the scenes, crafting thoughtful designs that put your work in the spotlight. To me, the digital world is your stage, and my job is helping you shine on it.

While Singapore is home, I work with creative entrepreneurs worldwide. Even across time zones, my clients tell me they love how collaborative our process feels. Every project is a true partnership – I’ve designed my entire approach around making you feel like we’re working side by side!

My personal design style is elegant, refined, and timeless. Beautiful typography, luxurious finishes, and stunning details are the Fancy Girl Foundations! I believe that design should enhance and support the content, not distract from it.

For clients, though, I love exploring the intersection between new design trends and timeless brand standards. I believe that with the right strategy and skills, any design can become timeless and classic - like a strand of pearls, or a pair of diamond stud earrings.

PRETTY SMART DESIGN

Those who know me well will tell you that I am both a nerd and a geek. I love to study and explore all the time, and I relish learning as much as I can about whatever interests me - design, branding, ancient history, psychology, web development, callligraphy, watercolor painting, art history, interior design, among others.

Remember Hermione's motto? "When in doubt, go to the library."

That is so me! :)

MY ANALYTICAL SIDE

Design is my passion, but problem-solving is my superpower. Nothing makes me happier than finding the perfect creative solution for a client, whether it's custom code or a unique illustration.

My background in Psychology (fun fact: I was a Fulbright Scholar and taught Psychology for seven years!) helps me understand what makes your ideal clients tick. While my design process feels intuitive, it's backed by research, strategy, and years of experience.

For fellow personality enthusiasts: I'm an Enneagram 4 with strong 3 and 5 wings – creative, driven, and analytical all rolled into one!

PRETTY GEEKY

I'm a total fantasy/sci-fi geek and love Terry Pratchett's Discworld, Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, Star Trek, and Star Wars in equal measure. Most weekends, you will find me reading, or in a bookstore shopping for more books.

Yes, I have an addiction! And the bookshelves to show for it.

Apart from reading, I also love watching movies, Disney+, and Netflix marathons.

EVERYDAY FANCIES

I believe pink is a neutral color, and love everything fancy! Afternoon teas, pink peonies, magnolias, pretty coffee table books, Apple products, lipsticks, luxury scents, pearls, designer hand bags, and ballerina flats (with bows!) are my weaknesses.

THE STUDIO

Fancy Girl Design Studio used to be a one-woman show. But now, I collaborate with a network of business specialists from 3 continents — all now friends. Among them, business coaches, technical teams and copywriters. All passionate professionals, we exchange our expertise as a digitally connected community, all with the goal of bringing world-class service to our clients. We hope our clients feel all the love the dedication that go into all our projects.

FUN FACTS

1. I CANNOT SING TO SAVE MY LIFE

Not that it ever stops me from belting out my favourite tunes though. :) Life's too short!!!

2. REDECORATING IS MY THERAPY

Every time I get stressed, I redecorate our home, or rearrange the furniture.

3. I HAVE A VERY LOUD, UNLADYLIKE LAUGH

10 years of private school had no effect, unfortunately!

4. I'M ADDICTED TO THE EXCLAMATION POINT

Yes!!! You'll see three or even 5 exclamation marks in my IG captions and blog posts!

FANCY GIRL AT HOME

I live in sunny Singapore, in a loving home filled with books and art, where I fulfil my decorator dreams and flexibility of a home office, filled with playtime and joy thanks to my supportive husband and two boys. I am happy I can work from home and be there for my two wonderful, affectionate sons, and watch them grow into budding artists and engaging storytellers.

Everyone asks me how I'm able to maintain a stylish home with 2 boys around. The answer is, I've raised them to appreciate having nice surroundings! Plus, my husband and I are both neat freaks. ;)
