It’s almost my birthday, and I know just the cake to order for myself – this stunning pink ombré rosette cake from Whyzee Singapore.

Any design maven will gladly explain that ombré is the blending of one color hue to another, usually moving tints and shades from light to dark. It’s very popular in everything from hairstyles, watercolors, fashion, and food.
I have always wanted an ombré cake! And I was so excited when Whyzee asked me to review one of their cakes on my blog. Naturally, I chose this one, in pink. Isn’t it pretty?! Love the perfect rosettes made of rich buttercream, and while the shade of pink they sent is actually closer to peach, on camera it looks more like a nice blush pink. (on-brand! lol)
I was perfectly happy to stare at it for hours, making it do pirouettes on the cake stand, but we had to see if it tasted as good as it looks!

Not all cake delivery services in Singapore send their cakes on a sturdy board, but Whyzee does, and I appreciate it. It makes it easier to slide the whole thing over on to a cake stand. We let it thaw a little bit, as the cake arrived chilled. Just enough time for me to take pictures, actually.
The frosting is thick – but you expect that because of the design. I would have preferred it a bit sweeter – the taste of the butter far exceeded the sweetness of the sugar. The cake itself is really good though! It’s moist, but not too dense. The vanilla cream filling is rich and comforting like a mother’s love. haha! I would gladly eat sans the icing to be honest. It tasted home-baked, and that’s a compliment from someone who bakes a lot.
Pricing on the website is surprisingly affordable, and they have lots of choices (Whyzee even offers vegan and eggless cakes). Best of all, they offer 1-hour delivery islandwide in Singapore. I think this is a great idea for when you want to gift someone a cake for a special occasion – we may be social distancing from each other, but it doesn’t mean we can’t do thoughtful things for other friends and family. Besides, any day is a good day for cake!
