PROJECT: FULL BRANDING SUITE + PROFESSIONAL WEB DESIGN
Jenn Hopkins is a wedding a family portrait photographer in Florida who has a very distinctly romantic style. Her previous logo and website looked really cute and whimsical, but did not reflect the quality of her work, nor did it reach her ideal clients effectively.
With Ginny Krauss working with her on her brand strategy, we formulated a solid design strategy that involved illustrating a custom lace pattern (Jenn really loves all things lace – it’s a Southern thing, and she’s very drawn to bridal gowns). The goal was to elevate her brand from sweet & whimsical to timeless & romantic.
The color palette we came up with is very soft, romantic, ethereal. She initially wanted to include peach (from her old brand colors), and I’m so glad she changed her mind after she saw this version.
The typography for her logo was an easy decision to make. We definitely wanted a calligraphy style wordmark. Jenn, however, had a really specific lace in mind, and so I set out to illustrate it by hand until it was absolutely perfect. The lace element, while not part of the actual logo, is an essential element in her brand identity, and is found everywhere, from her website to her business cards.
The website is as beautiful and romantic as her brand and her work. The lace element is used everywhere, just as she wanted. And you can truly tell how much she loves her work by the numerous warm testimonials her clients give her. She truly is the forever photographer.
