MARBÉ DESIGNS

PROJECT TYPE:
  • BASIC LOGO DESIGN
  • CUSTOM WEBSITE DESIGN

Marbé Briceno is an award-winning interior designer based in LA, who is known for bold, eclectic, and stylish interiors. She needed a brand and website that reflected not only her unique creative style, but also her obsession with the golden ratio.

I redesigned her logo and created variations and alternate marks, all following the golden ratio for the size and placement of elements. The website is where it all came together, with dynamic moving elements, an engaging layout, clear copy, and showstopping images.

HERE'S WHAT MARBÉ HAD TO SAY:

"Working with Pat was a wonderful and easy experience. I had been trying to update my website for several months and rebrand. Unfortunately, I ran into some good people who lacked experience and others who were complete scams. Pat is the combination of being an incredible human being with tons of experience.

I felt welcome and relieved that she would solve my web issue from the first moment. With her calm and sweet voice but full of confidence, she guided me from scratch to culminate the most beautiful web page that I had always dreamed of. She listens to you, analyzes you, and pays close attention to your DNA to reflect it in your Brand, sharing images and meetings where she guides you through the process and advises you when she knows something you want will not go well. I am delighted, and I will not only recommend her with my eyes closed, but I will continue to use her always for everything related to my Brand."

Positioning is a decision.
You don’t wait to be selected by whoever inquires. You choose.
Choose who you want to work with, what you want to be known for, and how you want your business to be perceived.
That’s positioning.

The custom monogram forms the letters H and A, but if you look at it long enough, you'll notice the curves of the letter A forms a letter L - which stands for Lisa, the founder's name.
We wanted the brand to look and feel premium but welcoming, as befits her years of experience and level of expertise.
The typefaces surfacing this week share a theme: n The typefaces surfacing this week share a theme: not serifs broadly, but a specific vintage register, letterforms with visible weight variation, a slightly worn edge, the sense that someone drew them by hand.
The Ashcombe Hall has the gravity of a country house library, the kind of face you'd expect stamped in gold on a leather spine. Vintage Serenade moves looser, more lyrical, closer to something a calligrapher would have signed.
Design has swung this way before. When the Industrial Revolution made everything fast and identical, William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement answered with ornament, with craft, with the visible mark of the maker. The clean grid had its long turn at the wheel. This particular kind of type, textured, hand-cut, carrying a sense of history in the strokes, is having its own.
The antiques returning to people's living rooms and this type returning to branding are doing the same work. Both are reminding us a skilled hand was involved.
