This was such a fun shoot! I’ve been a fan of Singapore Trading Post for years, ever since I discovered their iconic brass pineapple. If you’re a fan of British colonial style, you better hold on to your credit cards because this shop is like Aladdin’s cave.
Jo, the owner, wanted to bring a feeling of lush tropical vintage style into the shoot, to capture the spirit of bygone days when Singapore was a trading post in the East India trading route.
“Reading Noel Barber’s evocative story of forbidden love, Tanamera, set in 1930’s Singapore, was my inspiration for the brand concept of Singapore Trading Post – it’s a sort of homage to the style of that age.”

Working with the talented Silke of Zebra Jojo Photography is always a joy, and by now we have worked out a flow and process that’s seamless and allows us both to function well together. We rented a studio in Chinatown called The White Space, and Singapore Trading Post had all of their furniture and accessories delivered to it. Styling the photoshoot was so much fun, and needless to say at the end of the session, I had a shopping list as long as my arm.
Here are some of my favourites from the shoot:
