The home office has temporarily moved. My older son, Vito, has chicken pox, and since my desk used to be inside the boys’ room, I had to move out for the meantime because I’m trying to separate the little one so he doesn’t catch it.
I know chicken pox is like a rite of passage for kids, but I’m still hoping the vaccine will work on the younger one and prevent him from getting it altogether. Vito did get the varicella vaccine back when he was 2, but he didn’t get the booster shot. (The doctor said you need 2 shots for the vaccine to be 100% effective.) Since Raoul always wants to play wherever I’m working, the only recourse was to move out of the boys’ room (which is now just Vito’s room). I simply cannot afford to take care of 2 sick boys right now!
Anyway, I moved the desk to the living area. Had to do a bit of rearranging, but I managed to find a place for it. Here’s how my desk looks now:
Working in the living area has its perks though. I feel like it’s a command centre of sorts. 🙂 I’m near everything!
Essentials – the Microsoft comfort mouse, which has saved me from carpal tunnel syndrome. (The Apple wireless mouse is really uncomfortable and heavy, so even if I LOVE how it looks, I had to replace it with this ugly but comfortable one. Oh well, sometimes you have to choose comfort over beauty.) The Intuos tablet is another must-have.
So here is my desk, and yes, that’s me partially seen on the monitor. 🙂 The desk itself is from ScanTeak, which I really love as it’s very sturdy and wide. I’m thinking of painting it white though, because I really want a white desk. The hubby says it would be disrespectful to the wood. What do you think? Should I paint it?
Love your working area! 🙂 I like the table as it is: wood/wooden. 😀
don’t paint. love it as it is. =D
Thanks Chiara! 🙂 I might just keep it as it is. I always wanted to have a white desk, but I don’t think my painting skills extend to furniture. hahaha.
Hi Meikah! That’s what my husband says too. He says it would be a waste to cover up good solid wood. 😀
I think it’s better if your other son will get it, too, Sabi nga nila, “para sabay na”. Then you don’t have to worry in the future. And wow, Vito din name ng son mo like Martine and Frances. 🙂
Hi Denise! Yes, my 8-year old is also named Vito. Funny, right? 🙂
I’m still hoping my younger son avoids it altogether. 🙂 He got the vaccine right after we found out that his kuya has chicken pox. If he doesn’t get it this time, I will ask for the booster shot in 6 weeks to give him full protection against it. I’d really rather not have him get it while he’s so little. It’s hard to keep him from scratching. 🙁
Yes, pwede siyang hindi na magkaroon ever! Ako I never had. My mom was really makulit na itinabi niya ako sa mga sibs ko who had that time and sila pa nagkaroon ng beke (though I know it’s not nakakahawa) because O had that time. And when my daughter had 2 months ago, hindi din ako nagkaroon. I hope hindi na nga mahawa your other son. 🙂
I love your (temporary) working area. Simple yet very organized. Get well soon to your son 🙂
