It was the most wonderful way to spend the Easter weekend! Gardens by the Bay brought back Tulipmania this year and I was so happy! I totally missed it the first time, which was so sad because I LOVE tulips (second only to peonies). I even carried a bouquet of tulips on my wedding! This year, there was no way we were going to miss it!
We were there on Saturday afternoon. The queue to the ticket office was extremely long when we got there. It was a good thing you are now able to buy tickets online without having to print them out, as long as you are there and you are connected to their wifi. We also did this at the zoo last month, and we were able to skip the kilometer-long queue to the ticket counter.
As expected, there were a lot of people at the Flower Dome that day, which was looking like a mini Dutch garden. 🙂
You sort of have to wait for your turn to get up close to the tulips, but it’s worth it. And people are generally nice. 🙂
Here are some of the photos I took with my trusty Nikon J1, which didn’t disappoint. I used the 10-30mm lens for all these shots, as I didn’t bring the 30-70mm one.
I love the lilac-pink colours of this variety!
These were my favourite! The double-layer of the petals make them look like peonies! And the colours are so lovely!
A riot of colours!
Tulipmania at Gardens by the Bay runs until the 4th of May, 2014. There are over 50,000 tulips there – guaranteed to make any tulip lover swoon with delight! They even decorated the place with miniature Dutch canals, windmills, and houses set amidst the tulips and hyacinths. Admission rates are the same as any season.
