Website Pet Peeves: How Guilty is Your Website?

April 6, 2023 by Patricia

From slow-loading websites to pesky pop-ups and design disasters, these website faux pas can send potential clients running for the hills. You know that attention to detail is key when it comes to captivating your discerning audience; so make sure your website isn’t guilty of these.

Top Website Pet Peeves

  1. Slowpoke websites: Nobody has time for websites that take forever to load! We all want websites that load faster than a cheetah on caffeine.
  2. The Mysterious Homepage: you’ve seen those, the dreaded mystery homepage that leaves visitors scratching their heads because there’s no information about the business or the website. Is it a secret? They can be very creative and stylish, for sure, but are they helpful? No.
  3. Pesky pop-ups: We get it, you need their emails, but bombarding visitors with a barrage of pop-ups even before they can get to your content can feel like an unwanted sales pitch at a luxury spa. Let’s keep it classy, shall we? And less annoying please.
  4. Lost in the digital wilderness: Navigating a website shouldn’t feel like an Indiana Jones expedition. Make sure your website is a user-friendly oasis, not a tangled maze that leaves visitors scratching their heads. It shouldn’t be a puzzle that people need to solve!
  5. Autoplay ambush: Picture this: You’re discreetly browsing a website during a meeting, and suddenly, a video starts blaring out of nowhere! No bueno. Let’s keep the autoplay in check, shall we?
  6. Mobile mayhem: In the era of smartphones, a website that looks wonky on a tiny screen is a major turnoff. Let’s make sure your website shines like a diamond, whether it’s viewed on a desktop or a mobile device.
  7. Design disaster zone: A website that looks like it was designed by Picasso on a bad day can be a visual assault. Let’s keep it sleek, chic, and visually stunning, like a luxury boutique.
  8. Broken link blues: Dead-end links are like a broken promise – frustrating and disappointing. Let’s make sure your website leads visitors to the treasure trove of content they’re looking for.
  9. MIA contact info: Trust is key in the luxury world, and hiding your contact info is like playing hide-and-seek with potential clients. Let’s make sure your contact info is front and center, so clients can easily connect with you.
  10. Content chaos: Outdated info, pixelated images, or cringe-worthy videos can be a buzzkill for visitors. Let’s keep your website content polished, relevant, and as flawless as a diamond in the sun.

Take action by reviewing your website for any of these issues and ensuring that your online presence is polished, approachable, and clearly showcases your brand. With attention to detail and thoughtful website design, you’ll create a captivating website that leaves a positive impression on your luxury audience. Or work with us! We’ll we’ll help you avoid these pitfalls and create a stunning online presence that leaves a lasting impression on your luxury audience.

Positioning is a decision.
You don’t wait to be selected by whoever inquires. You choose.
Choose who you want to work with, what you want to be known for, and how you want your business to be perceived.
That’s positioning.

The custom monogram forms the letters H and A, but if you look at it long enough, you'll notice the curves of the letter A forms a letter L - which stands for Lisa, the founder's name.
We wanted the brand to look and feel premium but welcoming, as befits her years of experience and level of expertise.

The Ashcombe Hall has the gravity of a country house library, the kind of face you'd expect stamped in gold on a leather spine. Vintage Serenade moves looser, more lyrical, closer to something a calligrapher would have signed.
Design has swung this way before. When the Industrial Revolution made everything fast and identical, William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement answered with ornament, with craft, with the visible mark of the maker. The clean grid had its long turn at the wheel. This particular kind of type, textured, hand-cut, carrying a sense of history in the strokes, is having its own.
The antiques returning to people's living rooms and this type returning to branding are doing the same work. Both are reminding us a skilled hand was involved.
